1. Aging Well in Durham is inviting citizens to attend a free community event and resource fair on Saturday, May 19, 2018. The event will be held at the Durham County Human Services Building located at 414 E. Main Street from 10:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. with participant check in starting at 9:00 a.m. This event is free of charge however, registration is limited and required. All citizens are asked to register by calling 919-560-7393 or by emailing seniors@dconc.gov.
2. Libraries ROCK - Summer Reading 2018.
Join Durham County Library for a spectacular summer reading kickoff at Northgate Mall, (on the plaza) 1058 W. Club Blvd on Saturday, June 9th from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. There will be activities, performers, face painters and crafts planned during this event. 3. Durham Host 3rd Annual Tire Recycling Drive on June 2, 2018. If you have old or unused tires around your home, now is the time to get rid of them at no cost. Durham residents are encouraged to dispose of old tires at the City of Durham Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, 2115 E. Club Blvd., on Saturday, June 2 from 8:00 a.m. until noon. Tire disposal is free and open to the public.
4. Durham County's General Services Department will temporarily close the Rougemont Convenience Site, located at 108 Bill Poole Road, on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at 2 p.m. for maintenance. Additional convenience sites operated by the County will remain open during the Rougement Convenience Site temporary closure. Residents who normally use the Rougemont Site may visit any of the three open sites. Convenience site users are reminded that it is prohibited to leave trash, garbage or recyclables outside the gates of any closed convenience site.
