1. 2018-19 Durham County open Space Matching Grant Cycle now Open! The Durham County Open Space Matching Grant Program has opened the 2018-19 cycle for new applicants. This grant allows local non-profits to apply for recreation or open space-based grants at a 50-50 match. More information, guidelines, and application can be found on the Durham County Website below or on the Durham County Open Space Division Facebook page. Grant closes November 14, 2018! 2. Register of Deeds Announces Thank A Vet Program Kickoff: Upon release from the United States Armed Forces, it is highly recommended that veterans record their discharge papers in case originals are damaged or lost. The Register of Deeds Office is responsible for recording military discharge documents (DD-214's) for veterans. The Durham County Register of Deeds Office will kick off their campaign encouraging all veterans to record their military discharge documents on Thursday, November 15, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Thank-A-Vet card holders can begin to use their card right away by presenting it at a participating business in Durham. The participating business list is located on the County Register of Deeds Office webpage at www.dconc.gov/rod.
