The Board is requested to approve a proclamation recognizing the Durham (NC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated for 60 years of dedicated service to the Durham community.
This international organization, established in 1946, has worked tirelessly to improve the well-being of citizens through leadership, philanthropy and service providing opportunities and resources for others. This organization has nearly 15,000 members in 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and the United Kingdom.
Locally, its members are accomplished community leaders who share their expertise, professional skills and financial resources with non-profits, faith-based organizations, and students at area schools and universities with the goal of lifting the community.
Alignment With Strategic Plan: This item aligns with Goal 1: Community and Family Prosperity.

County Manager’s Recommendation: The County Manager recommends that the Board proclaim November 13, 2018 as Durham, North Carolina Chapter of The Links, Incorporated Day and present a copy of President Dr. Desiree T. Palmer along with sincere congratulations to the entire organization.
