The Board is requested to approve Budget Ordinance Amendment No. 19BCC000031 transferring Capital Financing Plan Fund fund balance to the Pay as You Go Capital Project Fund and Capital Project Amendment No. 19CPA000010 appropriating $946,486 to create a new Detention Center Jail Bed and HVAC Grille Replacement Project and to authorize the County Manager to enter into a contract with C.T. Wilson Construction Company, Inc., of Durham, for modifications to the jail beds and HVAC grilles in the direct supervision housing units of the Durham County Detention Center. The contract amount for the project is $901,486, and to execute any other related services/contracts, if necessary, it is recommended that a not to exceed the total budget amount of $946,486 be approved. This project involves structural modifications to the existing wall-mounted steel jail beds and replacement of the existing HVAC grills inside the holding cells throughout the detention center residential pods for improved detainee safety. This project will complete the replacement of HVAC grilles in 494 cells (988 grilles) and will modify all 160 jail beds.
