The Board is requested to amend the Durham Center for Senior Life’s (DCSL) lease allowing DCSL to rent its facility out to private individuals and groups outside of program hours, including the ability to obtain licenses to serve beer and wine for evening and weekend special events.
DCSL representative will provide a brief annual update on the DCSL’s recent accomplishments as well as current and pending issues, challenges, and goals for seniors and the center.
DCSL, has been a center for senior life in Durham for more than 70 years. DCSL embraces the opportunity to connect, inspire and support the nearly two hundred seniors who turn 65 in Durham County each day. DCSL’s staff of 27 welcomes close to 400 diverse seniors daily for 100 weekly educational and recreational activities at four centers and an adult daycare program.

County Manager’s Recommendation: The County Manager recommends that the Board to amend the DCSL’s lease allowing DCSL to rent its facility out to private individuals and groups outside of program hours, including the ability to obtain licenses to serve beer and wine for evening and weekend special events.
