The Board is requested to issue a proclamation recognizing the importance of adoption as a path to permanency for children in foster care in our community.
See attached Proclamation.
Alignment with Strategic Plan: Each year National Adoption Month is celebrated in November to increase the awareness of Durham County citizens of the need for adoptive homes for children in foster care. Goal 3: Secure Community - improving outcome for vulnerable children and youth.
Resource Persons: Ben Rose, Director; Jovetta Whitfield, Assistant Director; Sharyn Flood, Program Manager and Janice Williams, Adoption Supervisor.
County Manager’s Recommendation: The County Manager recommends that the Board approve the Proclamation declaring November Adoption Awareness Month in Durham County.
