In 1985 Durham Technical Community College staff and faculty came together to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. exactly one year before it became a national holiday. Since then it became an annual event for employees to fellowship, volunteer, educate, learn, and congratulate student recipients of the I Have a Dream Award. For the past 35 years Durham Tech employees has conducted an annual program that has included many notable North Carolina citizens all who came to share their memories, talents, knowledge, and experiences that uplifted and encouraged all.
