The Board is requested to approve Budget Ordinance Amendment No.20BCC000058 recognizing $43,006 in grant funding from the Global Tel Link Corporation (GTL). The County Sheriff's Office will use the grant funding for technology equipment and upgrades in the Detention Center. A list of previous technology projects funded by this grant has been attached.
GTL provides telephone services to detainees in the Durham County Detention Facility. As part of the inmate telephone service agreement (agreement is attached), GTL will provide the Durham County Sheriff’s Office with a one-time technology grant in the amount of $200,000 to fund infrastructure and wiring upgrades, which includes other GTL products. There is no match requirement for this grant.
These funds will be used to pay a pending invoice for services from Integrated Communications Services, Inc., dated March 31, 2020. The services include furnishing and installing audio visual equipment and wiring for the conference room and training room at the Detention Facility.

County Manager’s Recommendation: The County Manager recommends that the Board approve Budget Ordinance Amendment No.20BCC000058 recognizing $43,006 in grant funding from the Global Tel Link Corporation (GTL) to be used to fund technology upgrades in the Detention Center.
