Request for Board Action:
Agenda Text
The Board is requested suspend the rules to vote and authorize the County Manager to enter into a $213,971.00 contract to purchase two Riello Array V2.5 reheat boilers, and installation services from Envirotrol, LLC. Funding used to support this installation will come from Capital Improvement Funds allocated to this project.

The County Detention Centers current reheat boilers need to be replaced due to operational insufficiencies. These boilers provide reheat service for the entire facility and are critical to the correct operation of the HVAC system. When a failure occurs providing comfort conditioning for the facility is affected negatively.

The Detention Center is a twenty-four-hour seven day a week operational facility. The facility has five hundred and seventy-six cells and has a maximum capacity to house seven hundred and thirty-six detainees. Providing a twenty-four-hour service requires that all systems function optimally. Replacement of these units will enhance operational efficiency, provide units that meet or exceed the current units, in efficiency and utility costs, and lessen maintenance costs. This equipment was originally installed with Performance Contracting and it was anticipated that these boilers would have lasted beyond the fifteen years of the agreement. At present they have only operated continuously for less than 8 years.

Alignment with Strategic Plan: This project aligns with Goal 5 and continues the Counties policy of providing facilities that support the needs of the community.
