The Board is requested to receive a presentation on the Santee Road Park Project. The Santee Road property is an undeveloped 268-acre wooded parcel purchased by Durham County in 2013 to protect water quality, conserve and restore plant and wildlife habitats, and provide a model space for sustainable, nature-based experiences and low-impact recreational opportunities.
Alignment with Strategic Plan: The project is in accordance with Strategic Plan Goal 4 - Environmental Stewardship and Community Prosperity, and Strategic Goal 2: Health and Well-being for All
Resource Persons: Celeste Burns, MS, Open Space/Real Estate Division Manager; Christy Raulli, MCRP, Project Manager, and Peri Manns, ASLA, Deputy Director, Engineering & Environmental Services, Jay Gibson, P.E., CFM, Director of Engineering and Environmental Services.
County Manager’s Recommendation: The Manager recommends that the Board receive a presentation on the Santee Road Park Project and provide direction to staff if appropriate.
