The Board is requested to authorize the County Manager to amend the contract with U. S. Smoke & Fire Corporation in the amount of $31,520.00 to repair two smoke curtains which are located at the central atrium staircase and are part of the life safety system for the Durham County Main Library. Upon execution of this agreement, the contract with U. S. Smoke & Fire Corporation will be a total of $42,300.00. Funds will be expended from Buildings operational funds.
Alignment with Strategic Plan: Repairing the two smoke curtains which are part of Durham Counties Main Library life safety system aligns with Goal 3 (Safe and Secure Community) of the Strategic Plan.

County Manager’s Recommendation: The County Manager recommends that the Board authorize the County Manager to approve the amendment to repair two smoke curtains by U. S. Smoke & Fire Corporation at Durham County Main Library in the amount of $31,520.00
