The Board is requested to proclaim March 30, 2024, as North Carolina Federation of Gardens Club Day in Durham County, NC
To honor the N.C. Federation of Garden Clubs (NCFGC), organized in 1935 on the campus of NC A&T State University, which has been at the forefront of empowering African American gardeners and member garden clubs to beautify their local communities and promote the love of gardening and ornamental horticulture. Durham has had many local clubs affiliated with the NCFGC.
This proclamation will be presented to the Federation on March 30, 2024, at a symposium entitled: The African American Legacy in Gardening and Horticulture at the Hayti Heritage Center.
