The Board is requested to issue a proclamation recognizing May as Foster Care Month and assist in spreading the word about the needs of children and young adults in and leaving foster care. This year’s theme - “Engaging Youth. Building Supports. Strengthening Opportunities.” shines a light on how we can best support young people and help them successfully transition to adulthood and supports the Children’s Bureau’s highest priorities of ensuring young people leave care with strengthened relationships, holistic supports, and opportunities.
Alignment with Strategic Plan: This request aligns with Goal 2: Health and Well-Being.

County Manager’s Recommendation: The County Manager recommends that the Board approve the proclamation declaring May Foster Care Month.
