Request for Board Action:
Agenda Text
The Board is requested to approve Budget Ordinance Amendment No. 25BCC00006 to recognize $5,324.00 in Grant Funding from the Department of Public Instruction’s Child Nutrition Program for the Youth Home.
The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction received the funds from the USDA to be used by School Food Authorities (SFA) to help alleviate increased costs due to supply chain disruptions. Each SFA will receive a base payment and a scalable proportional amount based on student enrollment. The Youth Home received three previous awards from the USDA Supply Chain Grant funds. These funds will be used to purchase commodities that are unprocessed or minimally processed domestic food products. The funds are restricted and must be used to buy food for the Youth Home’s Child Nutrition program. The funds will be used in the current fiscal year, and the unspent funds may be used in the subsequent budget cycle.
Alignment with Strategic Plan: This request aligns with Goal 3: Safe Community, Goal 2: Health and Well-being for All, and Goal 5: Visionary Government.
