Request for Board Action:
Agenda Text
The Board is requested to amend a prior approval of the Interlocal Agreement (ILA) for the Station 18 Co-located Fire/EMS facility located at 6919 Herndon Road, Durham, by authorizing the County Manager to reduce the funding amount by $188,241 for the ILA Cost Share from $2,468,366 to $2,280,125 to match the ILA for the project. The remaining $188,241 was intended to remain within the project account as unencumbered funds to support the Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FF&E) expense associated with the project.
An oversight was made in drafting the original AAF dated September 13, 2021 for funding the County's cost share for the design and construction of co-located Fire/EMS Station 18 (see Attachment 1). As stated in the body of the AAF, the County's cost share for the facility is $2,280,125. However, the total funding requested included an additional $188,241 for the County's 5% contingency and FF&E budget.
In County Manager's Recommendation section, these dual allocations towards the ILA and the County's 5% contingency/ FF&E were not specified. This resulted in the entire appropriation of $2,468,366 as approved and encumbered as the County's cost share. The Board is asked to reduce the current allocation to provide the correct allocation between the cost share stated in the ILA and leaving the remainder of the funding within the project account unencumbered for use as contingency and FF&E expenses.
Alignment with Strategic Plan: This project aligns with the County's Strategic Goal 2: Health and Well-being for All, Goal 3: Safe Community, and Goal 5: Accountable, Efficient, and Visionary Government.
