The Board is requested to authorize the County Manager to enter into a service contract with Recovery Innovations, Inc. in the amount of $51,000. This contact is designed to provide after-hours telehealth services for individuals with mental health concerns housed in the Durham County Detention Center. The funding for this contract is included in the approved FY 24-25 budget for the Justice Services Department. These services are intended for individuals with urgent mental health concerns. This contract will ensure the availability of clinical mental health services for the detention facility are available after hours and on weekends when Jail Mental Health staff are not on-site. Services include evaluation and assessment, as well as crisis intervention.
In 2018, the Durham County Board of County Commissioners entered into a legal agreement that included a provision for around the clock mental health services at the Detention facility. Since that time, the Justice Services Department has ensured this coverage through a service contract and evening and weekend rotations for part-time staff.
