Agenda Text
The Board is requested to approve Budget Ordinance Amendment No. 25BCC080 Cooperative Extension to recognize $1,000 from the Extension Master Food Volunteer Training for Family and Consumer Sciences for Program Expenses.
Cooperative Extension staff held a 5-week training series for the Extension Master Food Volunteer Program (EMFV) January 5- February 22, 2025. The funds were fees collected from 10 participants who, after training, will aid staff during nutrition education classes, culinary training, outreach programs and community events. The EMFV program uses evidence-based curriculum to train volunteers in teaching Durham residents healthy and delicious recipes to improve the home food environment. Durham Extension staff expect to train 10-15 volunteers each year for the next 5 years, resulting in an increased capacity to serve local residents. Funds raised will be utilized to support training activities for volunteers as well as educational materials and supplies for the Family and Consumer Science program.
