The Board of County Commissioners is requested to Proclaim April Child Abuse Prevention Month.
April is a time set aside each year to recognize Child Abuse Month and to highlight the support needed to ensure children are safe and can remain with families. It’s also time to inform and raise awareness about the opportunities that members of our community can engage to support children who have been mistreated. The theme for 2025 is “Powered by Hope, Strengthen by Prevention”.
Alignment with Strategic Plan: This aligns with Strategic Plan Goal “Health & Inclusive Community”; increasing safety and well-being of families and children through prevention and intervention.
Resource Persons: Maggie Clapp, Director; Valery Dambreville, Deputy Director; Jovetta Whitfield, Assistant Director; and LaVelle Chesney, Program Manager.
County Manager’s Recommendation: The County Manager recommends that the Board Proclaim April Child Abuse Prevention Month.
