The Board is requested to approve the Resolution amending the resolution establishing the Durham County Early Childhood Task Force and approve task force members.
Task force members will consist of the following people and organizational affiliations:
Nida Allam, Durham County Commissioner
Ileana Vink, Durham County staff
Ramsay Richie, Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce
Kate Irish, Durham’s Partnership for Children
Linda Chappel, Early Years
Cathy Collie-Robinson, Durham Tech
Danielle Caldwell, family child care home representative
Karyn Wilkerson, child care center representative
DeAnna Vincent, parent representative
Katie Jacoby, parent representative
As noted in the attached amendment, “The Task Force is authorized to establish subcommittees, working groups, or other advisory groups as reasonably necessary to carry out its charge. The Task Force may invite Durham County residents, representatives of partnering organizations, County or other governmental staff, subject-matter experts, parents, caregivers, childcare providers, and other interested persons to participate in such subcommittees or working groups without separate appointment by the Board of County Commissioners.” The amendment further delineates the task force duration for a period of two (2) years from the date of appointment of the original membership. Any additional task force members will be brought to the Board for approval.
