The Board is requested to authorize the County Manager to execute a contract amendment in the amount of $124,890 for a total revised contract amount not to exceed $1,093,390 for additional design and construction admin services related to the Sheriff’s Training Facility project.
The additional cost covers design services for owner requested range relocation/layout and equipment revisions, water supply pressure investigations following well drilling, furniture procurement modifications, and extended construction admin services (2 months) that have been incurred as a result of the increased scope. Funding for this amendment is available within the Durham County Sheriff’s Training Facility project account.
Alignment with Strategic Plan: This aligns with the Strategic Plan Goal - Sustainable Infrastructure and Environment - through the improvement of an existing facility while repurposing land that is the site of a closed landfill and by providing consolidated Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) services into one facility, providing more efficient training/service delivery.

County Manager’s Recommendation: The County Manager recommends that the Board authorize the County Manager to execute a contract amendment in the amount of $124,890 with RND Architects, PA, for a total revised contract amount not to exceed $1,093,390 for additional design and construction admin services related to the Sheriff’s Training Facility project.
