The Board is requested to approve Capital Project Amendment No.24CPA00019 appropriating $750K of North Carolina Public School Building Repair Fund Funding to the new DPS Interior Repair Capital Project (SH319) for installation of bathroom partitions, blinds replacement, interior painting, kitchen equipment replacement, and window repairs at several school sites, as well as $1.3M of North Carolina Education Lottery Building Capital Fund Funding to the CC Spauling Elementary School Auditorium Capital Project (SH320) to fund the renovation of the CC Spaulding Elementary School Auditorium. Renovations will include new finishes, seating, ADA improvements, new lighting, and hazardous abatement.
All projects will be completed during the Summer break of 2024.
Detailed explanations of both projects are below:
DPS Interior Building Repairs Project. These repairs and replacement projects will consist of the new restroom partitions and interior blind replacement for visual safety concerns. Projects will also provide funding for small interior painting refresh and window glass replacements that will be completed across the district. Also, several pieces of district wide kitchen equipment such as dishwashers and steamers will be replaced due to age and life cycle.
CC Spaulding Elementary School Auditorium. Funding for this project will provide DPS a new refreshed school auditorium. The historic school auditorium needs repairs and remediation of hazardous materials. The project scope includes updates to equipment and finishes, energy efficient lighting, and ADA requirements.
