1.                     DCo Board of Elections Has Moved - On Tuesday, September 3, the Durham County Board of Elections opened its new facility at the Shoppes of Hope Valley located at 3825 S. Roxboro Street, Suite 101, Durham, NC 27713. Operations at the downtown office (201 N. Roxboro St.) have ceased and the office is closed. All Durham County residents in need of Board of Elections services should go to the new building. Signage with the new facility address is posted at the downtown office. Directional signage will be at the new facility to direct voters into the temporary entrance. This is phase 1 of 2 in the moving process for the BOE. 2.                     Download the New DCo Votes App - The Durham County Board of Elections has launched a new mobile application, "DCo Votes", designed to help residents stay informed and prepared for upcoming elections. This free, easy-to-use mobile app offers instant access to important information, including election dates, sample ballots, personalized voter details, and voting method options. Residents can also sign up through the app to receive news and updates from the Board of Elections. 3.                     Sample Ballots Now Available - Durham County voters looking to see their sample ballots for the upcoming November 5, 2024 Statewide General Election they are now available! 4.                     Entrepreneurship vs. Employment Discussion - Join us for “Entrepreneurship vs Employment,” a panel discussion surrounding Durham reentry resources on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 11 a.m. in the auditorium at Durham County Main Library in collaboration with the Durham Local Reentry Council. Whether you are a person with a background trying to figure it all out, community member, professional, or simply interested in supporting justice-involved individuals, this discussion will provide valuable insights and foster important conversations about the future of reentry and reintegration. 5.                     Dementia Inclusive Community Forum - You are invited to the Dementia Inclusive Community Forum on Friday, September 20, 2024, from 9:30-2:00pm at the Durham Convention Center located at 301 W. 6.                     Aging Well Durham Community Meeting - Please join Aging Well Durham on Wednesday, September 25th from 11am - 2pm at Duke Memorial UMC located at 504 W. Chapel Hill Street to receive updates on the Durham Aging Plan, enjoy tabletop activities and refreshments.  Registration is required for this event.  For more information, please call 919-599-9642.

 

7.                     Public Comment Sought by DCHCMPO - The Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (DCHCMPO) is seeking public comment on its FY 2024-2033 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Amendment #4. Public comment will be open through Wednesday, September 18. 8.                     CenterFest is Coming - The 49th annual CenterFest will be held in downtown Durham on Saturday, September 21 (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and Sunday, September 22 (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.). This event is free with a $5 suggested donation at the gate. Donations support the festival and the arts in Durham. This event from the Durham Arts Council brings together the Durham County community each fall with this signature fine arts festival, showcasing visual artists from across the country, fills multiple stages with stand-out local performers, art shopping, music, and fun for all ages! Kids will have a blast at the Creative Kids Zone, food vendors keep guests fueled for fun, and Durham’s nonprofit and government services sector inspire and inform festival goers. 9.                     Tri-County Pasture Field Day - Join the Soil and Water Conservation Districts from Durham, Orange, and Person Counties for the 2024 Tri-County Pasture Field Day on Thursday, September 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Gates Farm, 3735 Jefferson Gates Place in Hurdle Mills. This event is free, but registration is required! Sponsors will provide lunch for any participant that preregisters! Registration deadline is Wednesday, September 18. 10.                     Updated COVID-19 Vaccines Coming Soon to DCoDPH - The Durham County Department of Public Health will have updated COVID-19 vaccines available by appointment in the coming weeks, at a date to be determined, for all people aged 6 months and older. The clinic is located at 414 E. Main Street. Appointments will be required! No walk-ins. The FDA has authorized a new booster. Previous doses are no longer authorized.
