The Board is requested to approve Budget Ordinance Amendment No.27BCC035 and Capital Project Amendment No.27CPA017 appropriating $5,045,000 in Debt Service Fund Fund Balance and transferring it to the PAYGO Fund to support the purchase of real property at 2828 Croasdaile Drive (5910SH331) and authorize the Manager to execute documents related to this purchase pending final approval of documents by the County Attorney’s Office.
The County intends to purchase this office building (REID 130741) for use by Durham Public Schools as an administrative office that will combine staff from at least two locations and relieve significant overcrowding. The purchase price is $4,995,000, or approximately $75 per square foot. Remaining funds will be used for building and site investigations during the due diligence period of the Purchase and Sales Agreement, and for closing costs.

County Manager’s Recommendation: The County Manager recommends that the Board approve Budget Ordinance Amendment No.27BCC035 and Capital Project Amendment No.27CPA017 appropriating $5,045,000 in Debt Service Fund Fund Balance and transferring it to the PAYGO Fund to support the purchase of real property at 2828 Croasdaile Drive (5910SH331) and authorize the Manager to execute documents related to this purchase pending final approval of documents by the County Attorney’s Office.
