The Board is requested to approve Capital Project Amendment No.27CPA013 appropriating $700K of North Carolina Public School Building Repair Fund Funding to support Districtwide Improvement Projects for: water heater replacements, flooring repairs, roofing repairs, life safety system repairs, and elevator repairs. The repairs will ensure the building systems are repaired or replaced to adequately meet the needs of students and staff.
Water heater replacements will include the installation of tankless water heater systems, which are more sustainable, energy-efficient, and cost-effective to operate. Floor repairs will improve the functionality, safety, and appearance of multiple instructional and support spaces across the district. Roofing repairs will address ongoing leaks, prevent further water intrusion, and improve the overall integrity of the building envelope. Life safety system repairs will include the repair and replacement of backflow prevention devices, fire alarm components, and kitchen fire suppression systems identified as deficient during annual inspections. Elevator repairs will address code compliance violations and repair critical equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and consistent operation for students, staff, and visitors.
All projects are expected to be completed by June 2027. The table below indicates funds reconciled by DPS and the County that are available for transfer:
