Agenda Text
The Board is requested to approve Budget Ordinance Amendment No. 27BCC034 Cooperative Extension to Recognize $4,111.77 for the Family and Consumer Science Program from the Fall Fest Plant Sale.
Cooperative Extension staff and volunteers raised funds from a Fall Fest community food access plant sale in September. The Fall Fest plant sale is open to the community at our Briggs Avenue Community Garden and conducted annually to educate the community and raise funds for FCS program educational activities. The Fall Fest includes cooking demos, seed and compost giveaway and low-cost sale of vegetable and fruit plants to increase community local food security and food knowledge. Leftover plants were distributed free of charge to local community gardens. All funds raised will be utilized to support training activities for volunteers as well as educational materials and supplies for the Family and Consumer Science program.
Alignment with Strategic Plan: The item aligns with multiple focus areas of the strategic plan, including Healthy and Inclusive Community, Empowered Community, and Financial Stewardship.
