Now Accepting Applications for the Durham County Food Security Grant Program – Applications are now being accepted for Durham County’s Food Security Grant Program. A total of $250,000 is available to support local projects that strengthen food security for Durham residents. Grant awards range from $20,000–$50,000. The deadline to apply is Monday, October 26, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Projects may use a wide range of strategies, including but not limited to:
Providing direct food assistance
Helping residents access nutrition programs
Building organizational capacity
Improving coordination between service providers
Offering training in growing, preparing, or sourcing food

3rd -12th Grade Conservation Contests – Durham County students in 3rd - 12th grade are invited to show off their creativity and knowledge in our Conservation Contests. The contests challenge students to illustrate their knowledge through a poster, essay, slide show, or public speaking presentation. The contest is open to all Durham County public, private, charter, and homeschool students as well as student clubs. This year's theme is Soil and Water - Yours for Life.
