The Durham County Department of Public Health (DCoDPH) produces data reports on the health of Durham County residents on an annual basis. The 2023 Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) is a national survey conducted in each state by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This survey is administered every two years, the most recent survey data is contained in this report from 2023. This survey asks about many aspects of middle and high schoolers’ lives including mental health, substance use, nutrition, physical activity, bullying, and more.
The State of the County Health (SOTCH) report is done in years between Community Health Assessments. The 2024 SOTCH report is an update on data from the 2023 Community Health Assessment (CHA) and the county’s top five health priorities which are 1. Affordable Housing,
2. Access to Healthcare and Health Insurance, 3. Community Safety and Wellbeing, 4. Mental Health, 5. Physical Activity, Nutrition, and Food Access.
Data is vital in giving an accurate picture of Durham County’s health and driving decisions to best improve health outcomes for all Durham residents.
