The Board is requested to approve Budget Ordinance Amendment No. 27BCC006 to recognize $28,153 for LSTA Grant Funding Awarded by the State Library of North Carolina to fund the “Learning Through Play” Initiative.
The grant will fund the “Learning Through Play” initiative which aims to develop interactive early literacy kits, create cognitive toys tailored to diverse needs, offer STEAM-infused early literacy programs, and hold workshops for early readers’ caregivers. This program is supported by grant funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) as administered by the Library of North Carolina, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (IMLS grant number LS-260837-OLS-26).”
