The Board is requested to issue a resolution celebrating Asian American Heritage Month for May 2024 in Durham County. The purpose of the resolution is to acknowledge and honor AAPI Heritage Month in Durham County, bringing awareness and celebration to the experiences and contributions of the AAPI community in Durham County. Asian American-Pacific Islander Heritage Month has been celebrated nationally since 1992 to recognize the contributions, rich history, and diversity that Asian Americans-Pacific Islanders bring to our community. We are committed to fostering a culture of inclusivity, diversity, and understanding within Durham County. Together, we strive to acknowledge, learn from, and appreciate the diverse narratives that shape our collective history.
