1. Solid Waste Convenience Sites to Close on Thursday, July 16 - All Durham County Solid Waste Convenience Sites will be closed to the public on Thursday, July 16, for a scheduled staff development day. During the closure, operations at all convenience sites will be suspended. The convenience site locations include Parkwood Convenience Site (5928 Highway 55) and Northern Convenience Site (11894 N. Roxboro Road). Both sites will reopen with normal operating hours at 7 a.m. on Friday, July 17.

2. County Launches New Digital Platform for Property Tax Payments - Durham County Government has launched PayDCoNC, a new digital platform that makes it easier for residents to manage and pay property taxes online. PayDCoNC is available now at pay.dconc.gov. PayDCoNC gives residents the flexibility to manage property taxes in a way that works for their schedule and budget. 3. Sheriff Invited to Address National Association of Latino Elected Officials - Sheriff Birkhead will represent Durham County at this week's National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials Conference. He is invited to be a featured speaker at a "Leadership Forum" to discuss immigration reform, and how we in Durham County are handling the balance between local law enforcement and this national policy challenge. He is scheduled to speak on July 16th and will be joined by the Police Chief of Santa Ana, California in neighboring Orange County. More information is available on the NALEO website.
