The Board is requested to proclaim the month of November as Family Caregiver Month in Durham County.
Aging Well Durham is the backbone organization for the 2025-2030 Durham Comprehensive Aging Plan. Support for caregivers is an implementation priority for the Plan. We are requesting this proclamation to raise awareness about the value of caregivers and to amplify the need for additional support and recognition for them.
Alignment with Strategic Plan: This item aligns with Strategic Plan Goal - Empowered Community.
Resource Persons: Shelisa Howard-Martinez, Executive Director of Aging Well Durham
County Manager’s Recommendation: The County Manager recommends that the Board proclaim the month of November as Family Caregiver Month in Durham County.
