Agenda Text
The Board is requested to proclaim April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. The future success of our state relies on the healthy growth and development of all children. When we work together to ensure their healthy development, the next generation pays it back through a lifetime of productivity and responsible citizenship. With the support of engaged communities and nurturing families, all children can thrive and have the opportunity to grow into contributing, caring, and healthy adults.
Durham County Department of Social Services partners with the community to raise awareness, prevent, react, and coordinate services to children and families to address the real issues of child abuse and neglect. Our community is a proven champion of children, and we request the Board of Commissioners help us bring continued awareness to the real issues of child abuse and neglect through this proclamation. This proclamation is a joint effort of the Department and Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina.
