The Board is requested to receive an update from Urban Ministries of Durham (UMD) on the Hope Day Services Center Pilot Program. After being chosen through a Request for Proposal (RFP) process, UMD enter into an agreement with the County earlier this year to provide day services for the unsheltered as part of a pilot program.
UMD staff will provide background on the program, including data associated with the patrons who have been served during the course of the last five months. The County allocated $350,000 to fund the pilot program, which is currently scheduled to operate through the end of January of 2027.
Alignment with Strategic Plan: This item aligns with Regional Leadership, Objective 4a (Develop Strategies to partner with stakeholders and identify funding resources to reduce housing insecurity) and Objective 4b (Develop and maintain permanent workforce and supportive housing, along with other strategies that address diverse housing needs).
Resource Persons: Jonathan Gattis, Interim Executive Director of Uban Ministries of Durham.
County Manager’s Recommendation: The County Manager recommends that the Board receives an update on the Hope Day Services Center Pilot Program.
