The Board is requested to approve the contract with Hayti Reborn - Justice Movement (HR-JM) in the amount of $330,000. The Hayti Reborn - Justice Movement operates as an “umbrella organization” that works in concert with existing community partners, with a goal of developing coordinated strategies that interrupt the cycle of violence, while concurrently increasing the health and prosperity within marginalized communities.
HR-JM functions as a centralized hub that coordinates community-based organizations, law enforcement agencies, and service providers into a cohesive network focused on interrupting recidivism. This collaborative framework addresses the factors that contribute to criminal justice system reengagement, including unemployment, housing instability, and limited access to support systems. HR-JM's centralized coordination model is essential because individuals return from multiple facilities across two correctional systems (state and federal), creating complex reentry needs that require unified, comprehensive support.
