Agenda Text
The Board is requested to approve a resolution honoring Bahama Firefighter Richard “Ricky” Dorsey who lost his life in service to his community. This young firefighter was only 18 years old when he perished. During Hurricane Fran in 1996, Firefighter Dorsey passed away in the Line of Duty after a fire truck he was driving had a large red oak tree fall om the cab. This year on Sunday, September 6th will mark 30 years since he passed.
Firefighter Dorsey is fondly remembered for his passion, dedication, and selfless commitment to protecting others. The Durham Legislative Delegation is working with the North Carolina Department of Transportation to have the bridge over Little River Reservoir on Highway 501 named in his honor. This resolution will be included in the package of support materials.
Alignment with Strategic Plan: This item aligns with Strategic Plan Goal 3: Safe Community
