The Board is requested to proclaim June 2024 as Pride Month in Durham County. The purpose of the proclamation is to acknowledge and honor Pride in Durham County, bringing awareness and celebration to the experiences and contributions of the LGBTQIA+ community in Durham County. LGBTQ Pride Month traces its roots back to the 1969 Stonewall riots, the first Pride marches started the following year, June 28, 1970. We are committed to fostering a culture of inclusivity, diversity, and understanding within Durham County. Together, we strive to acknowledge, learn from, and appreciate the diverse narratives that shape our collective history.

County Manager’s Recommendation: The County Manager recommends that the Board proclaim June 2024 as Pride Month in Durham County.
