The Board is requested to authorize the County Manager to enter into a contract with NWN in the amount of $264,352.12 utilizing FY 2024-2025 operations dollars. The contract will allow Durham County to renew support for the Varonis Cloud and Security licenses. Varonis protects enterprise data spotlighting where sensitive data is concentrated and automatically remediates overexposure. This technology analyzes and automates permissions and user behavior to highlight where users have access to data as needed. Additionally, Varonis protects enterprise data in the largest and most important data stores and applications keeping Durham County applications secure across the cloud and behind the firewall.
This Cloud and Analytics application provides a proactive tool to addresses potential risk and vulnerabilities of data as Durham County has made a significant shift to remote work. This data governance solution gives IS&T modernized capabilities which ensure we are proactive in securing Durham County data. Additionally, this tool alleviates the need for 24x7 staff resources and enables County IT resources to focus on other key IT services requiring support.
