The Board is requested to approve an updated list of legislative proposals for consideration as part of the 2021 North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) Legislative Goals process. NCACC has initiated its process for approving statewide legislative goals for the 2021 General Assembly session. During the September 14th meeting, an initial discussion was held, and staff was instructed to research and add a few more specific goals.
All legislative proposals from counties must be submitted to NCACC by September 30, 2020 and must be accompanied by a letter from the Chairman, an adopted resolution of the Board or a letter from an affiliate organization. Proposed goals will be referred to the appropriate steering committees for review and consideration. The complete process will culminate in January 2021 with the membership adopting final goals at the Annual Legislative Conference.

County Manager’s Recommendation: The County Manager recommends that the Board discuss and approve the updated list of proposed statewide legislative goals for NCACC and direct staff to share the list with NCACC prior to the September 30th deadline.
