The Board is requested to approve Budget Ordinance Amendment No. 25BCC050 for the Department of Social Services to Recognize $627,500 from the City of Durham for the Low Income Homeowners Tax Relief Program (LIHRP) and to approve the Interlocal Agreement (ILA) between Durham County Department of Social Services and the City of Durham for the Low Income Homeowners Tax Relief. The breakdown of the city contributions is $500,000.00 for the client $120,000.00 in administrative support, and $7,500.00 in publications.

The Durham County Department of Social Services worked in partnership with the Durham County Tax Office and the Durham County Board of Commissioners to develop a Low-Income Homeowners Relief Program. The objective of the program is to provide relief through a tax support program to help long-term homeowners in the lower income brackets to remain in their homes.

This budget ordinance is dependent on approval by the Council of the City of Durham.
