The Board is requested to proclaim July 6 - 10, 2026, as Summer Learning Week in Durham County.
Its purpose is to raise awareness and support for the importance of summer learning and reading among Durham County children and families. The dates align with National Summer Learning Week, and a potential Proclamation for Summer Learning Week in North Carolina by Governor Stein. A Proclamation by the County will raise awareness locally of this important issue and support the efforts of Durham Public Schools and other community non-profits engaged in summer learning opportunities.
