The Board is requested to hold a public hearing to consider renaming the County Administrative II Building after William V. Bill Bell, former County Commissioner.  During this public hearing, the Board will hear public comments, provide additional feedback and consider the request.

 

The Board received a presentation from the Naming Committee at the May 5, 2025, Work Session which outlined the application process and recommendations.  

 

A public hearing was held on August 25, 2025, where the Board did not take action on the recommendation proposed by the Naming Committee.  At that time, the Board requested a second public hearing to consider naming the Administration II Building after William V. Bill Bell.

 

Alignment with Strategic Plan: This item aligns with all strategic priorities of Durham County.

County Manager’s RecommendationThe County Manager recommends that the Board hold a public hearing to consider renaming the County Administrative II Building after William V. “Bill” Bell, former County Commissioner.
