The Board is requested to appoint the following individuals to two-year terms in statutory positions on the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council:
• The Honorable Patricia D. Evans, District Court Judge, to serve as the designee for the Honorable James Hill, Chief District Court Judge
• Tara Blackley, Deputy Public Health Director, to serve as the designee for Gayle Harris, Public Health Director
The Juvenile Crime Prevention Council reviews the needs of Durham juveniles who are at risk (delinquency or who have been adjudicated or undisciplined) and evaluates the resources available to address those needs. The Council also develops and implements a request for proposals process and submits a written plan of action for the expenditure of juvenile sanction and prevention funds to the Durham Board of County Commissioners.
Alignment With Strategic Plan: The work of the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council aligns with Goal 3, Safe Community, of the County’s Strategic Plan.

County Manager’s Recommendation: The County Manager recommends that the Board appoint the Honorable Patricia D. Evans, District Court Judge, and Tara Blackley, Deputy Public Health Director, to serve two-year terms in statutory positions on the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council.
