Request for Board Action:
Agenda Text
The Board is requested to recognize the achievements of the graduates of the Bull City YouthBuild program. This program serves 16-24 year old youth who are in need of their high school equivalency and/or job skills training. The program provides basic academic skills instruction alongside hands-on construction skills training that incorporates Habitat for Humanity Durham work sites. Graduates of the 36-week program are provided follow-up services that include job placement and connection to post-secondary education programs.
Not only did this class achieve graduation on January 25th of this year, but these students also released a book: Blueprints: Rebuilding Lives and Redesigning Futures. A Collection of Essays and Poems from BCYB Students. The tenacity of these students should be an example for others to follow.
