The Board is hereby requested to authorize the County Manager to amend the consulting service agreement with Falcon Engineering, Inc., (FEI) currently providing the construction materials testing and special inspections (CMT & SI) services for the Durham County Main Library Project located at 300 N. Roxboro Street, Durham, NC, in the amount of $30,000 thus increasing the total compensation from $125,000 not to exceed $155,000. (See Attachment 1, Page 1).

The requested amendment will cover the additional testing and inspection costs required to complete the project and cover the unforeseen conditions encountered in the field. The scope of work is summarized in the attached proposal dated September 25, 2018 in the amount of $30,000. Funding for this amendment is available in the Durham County Main Library Capital Project account.

This agenda item has been reviewed and approved by the Purchasing Division. In review of the Minority and Women Business Enterprise (MWBE) participation for this project, Falcon Engineering Inc., is a MWBE certified Women Owned Business and will be utilizing 100 percent MWBE participation. (See Attachment 2, Page 1).

Alignment With Strategic Plan: This aligns with Goal 4: Environmental Stewardship - through the improvement of the environmental performance of County buildings to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions from the built environment. Improvements to this facility also addresses Goal 5 by providing more efficient service delivery and better customer service.
