The Board is requested to recognize the Unity in the Community Health Forum 2018. The Forum will be held on October 26, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Lyons Park and Recreation Center, 1309 Halley Street, Durham. The topic of conversation will be “Dealing with Diabetes.” North Carolina State Health Director Dr. Elizabeth Cuervo Tilson will be the keynote speaker. Special honors will be given to the late Dr. Brenda Estelle Armstrong.
Alignment With Strategic Plan: This item aligns with Goal 1: Community Empowerment and Enrichment and Goal 2: Health and Well-being for All.
Resource Persons: Jan Stewart Cromartie, Former Health Chairman of Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People
County Manager’s Recommendation: The County Manager recommends that the Board proclaim October 26, 2018 as Unity in the Community Health Day.
