The Board is requested to issue a proclamation in recognition of the annual national observance of Veterans Day and the 100th Anniversary of the end of World War I on Sunday, November 11, 2018.

 

The Office of the Public Historian for the City of Durham would like for the Durham County community to ring, chime or play eleven musical chords at exactly 11:00 a.m. to represent the armistice agreement that officially ended World War I at the eleventh hour of the eleventh month in 1918, an entire century ago.

 

Alignment With Strategic Plan: This item aligns with Goal 1: Community Empowerment and Enrichment.

County Manager’s Recommendation: The County Manager recommends that the Board recognize the Office of the Public Historian for the City of Durham in the annual national observance of Veterans Day and celebrating 100 years of the end of World War I.
