The Board is requested to receive and approve a Master Aging Plan (MAP) proposal for Durham from Triangle J Council of Governments (TJCOG).
In May 2018, the Board of County Commissioners and the City Council received the results of the Durham Livability Self-Assessment using TJCOG Livability Self-Assessment Tool for Local Governments. The findings will be a foundation for the MAP. Mitchell Heflin, MD and Eleanor McConnell, PhD Co-Directors, Duke Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP) committed to contributing $7,500 for specific components of the project. The total cost of the project is $35,710 which includes a contingency amount of $1,701. Durham County’s contribution will not exceed $28,210. The Board included funding for this project in the FY 18-19 adopted budget.
Alignment with Strategic Plan: This item aligns with Goal 2: Health and Well-being for All; Strategy 2.2C-Age-Friendly Communities.

County Manager’s Recommendation: The County Manager recommends that the Board receives and approves the Durham Master Aging Plan proposal from TJCOG for the County’s contribution not to exceed $28,210.
