The Board is requested to recognize Donna Rewalt as the director of the Durham County Center of NC Cooperative Extension effective March 1, 2019.
Ms. Rewalt currently works with the Durham County Center of NC Cooperative Extension as Community Outreach Coordinator where she directs Community Development programming. She is an experienced trainer and facilitator in a variety of areas, including strategic planning, communication, team building, advocacy, and leadership, including Parent & Family Advocacy and Support Training (PFAST) and Parents as Leaders (PAL), which help families better navigate public schools to help their children succeed. She is a certified facilitator in the MBTI and Real Colors personality instruments along with Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Successful People.
She holds a BA in Communication from Wake Forest University and an MA in Communication from the University of Georgia. She is a graduate of Leadership Durham and NC State's Natural Resources Leadership Institute. She previously worked with the Durham Public Education Network as Community Engagement Director where she coordinated an Annenberg Foundation grant in community engagement. Ma. Rewalt has taught college courses in communication and worked in community & public relations and fundraising at colleges and nonprofit organizations. She is the proud parent of a DPS graduate and a 10th grader at Riverside High School where she serves on the PTA Board and School Improvement Team. She and her husband, Jeff Pitts, have been Durham residents since 1995.
