The Board is requested to approve additional funding to support taping and broadcasting of County Commissioners Meetings and the added service of producing the "In Touch with Durham County" TV show through the end of the fiscal year.
The Board is asked to authorize the County Manager to execute an amendment to the current contract of $30,000 with Velasquez Digital Media Communications in the amount of 25,000. The total is not to exceed $55,000.
Velasquez is the company that provides broadcast services for Durham County to include videotaping and broadcasting BOCC meetings, editing the County's TV Show and other special video services as needed. This request is being generated due to a funding shortage that emerged related to the change of taping locations and original vendor.
With the move into Admin II and the availability of a new studio, a decision was made to transition filming of "In Touch" to Velasquez Digital Media. The company received specialized initial training to make the studio operational. The new task of shooting the show was added to the Velasquez existing contract to bridge the gap created when the previous contractor was unable to transition into the new location. Velasquez agreed to provide the services needed to produce the show between October and the end of the fiscal year.
This request will not require any new money because there are sufficient funds in the Public Information Broadcasting budget line item to support the adjustment.
