The Board is requested to bring attention to Durham County residents and visitors that April is National County Government Month. Celebrated each April by the nation’s counties, NCGM was created by the National Association of Counties to raise public awareness and understanding about the roles and responsibilities of county government. The 2019 theme for NCGM is “Connecting the Unconnected.” Throughout the month, Durham County will host internal and external events that will be open to employees and the public. Residents are encouraged to learn more about what county government does and what resources are available to the community.
Alignment with Strategic Plan: The National County Government Month celebration and proclamation aligns with Goals 1-5.

County Manager’s Recommendation: The County Manager recommends that the Board proclaims April 2019 as National County Government Month in Durham.
